⚠️Official Global Travel Advisory from the Government of Canada:

🚨⚠️All travelling Canadians should return to Canada as soon as possible! ⚠️🚨

To limit the spread of COVID-19, many countries have put in place travel or border restrictions and other measures such as movement restrictions and quarantines. Many airlines are suspending flights. Many airports are closing, preventing flights from leaving. Exit bans are becoming more frequent. New restrictions may be imposed with little warning. Your travel plans may be severely disrupted and you may be forced to remain outside of Canada longer than expected. The Government of Canada is working with Air Canada, Westjet, Air Transat, and Sunwing Airlines to assist in getting Canadians home as soon as possible. Any Canadians currently in the U.S. travelling to Canada will be permitted to leave the U.S. and enter Canada.

A Canadian insurer announced that the availability of medical care in the US is diminishing. There is a chance in the future that a hospital or clinic may not be able to treat all persons due to bed and equipment shortages.

🚨⚠️Emergency Alert from the Government of Canada ⚠️🚨
Travellers returning to Canada, you are at high risk of spreading COVID-19. You are required by law to self-isolate for 14-days. DO NOT visit any stores, family or friends. Everyone should stay home to stop the spread.

Canadians who do not comply with the mandatory immediate 14-day self-quarantine are in breach of the federal Quarantine Act. Maximum penalties include a fine of up to $750,000 and six months in jail. Read more.

Should you require supplies, have a family/friend pick them up and drop them off at your doorstep. Upon arriving home take all precautions to ensure the virus does not enter your living space (clothes in the wash, shower, gargle with an anti-septic, wash your hands).

⚠️If you are travelling now ...

If you have a Travellers Choice policy, the policy WILL NOT pay benefits for any claim related to the coronavirus (COVID-19), but will pay benefits for a claim not related to the coronavirus (COVID-19).

If you have a Travel Insurance Made Easy (T.I.M.E), all claims, along with any claims for insurance coverage or benefits directly or indirectly related to COVID-19/Coronavirus, will be reviewed on a case by case basis, based on the terms and conditions of the policy as well as all the circumstances attendant to the claim.

If you have a TuGo, or Blue Cross policy that is valid and in force, and you have a claim related to the coronavirus (COVID-19), the policy may pay benefits based on the terms and conditions of the policy. Although they are strongly recommending all Canadians to return to Canada as soon as possible as not taking the necessary measures that are presently available to return to Canada could have a negative impact on your health and in your insurance coverage.

If you have made every attempt to return home, but have difficulty due to rebooking your flight or arranging ground transportation please call us at 1-844-500-2947 to explain your situation and we will make arrangements to assist with your existing travel insurance policy.

⚠️If you return to Canada earlier than planned ...

If you bought a single-trip travel insurance policy from Bureau d'Assurance Voyage, and have not had a claim, you are entitled to a refund of the unused premium. To obtain a refund, please contact the office at 1-844-500-2947 or email us at
If you are emailing about a refund, you must state whether or not you have had a claim. There are no administration fees and no service charges for refunding any portion of your trip.

⚠️If you need to extend your policy ...

You may extend your policy if it is still in force, you have not had a claim and no claim is pending, and:

  1. You are trying to get a flight to Canada but there are no flights available before your policy terminates.

  2. You are driving to Canada but, due to circumstances beyond your control, will not cross the border before your policy terminates.

  3. You have experienced some other delay while attempting to return to Canada.

If you elect to not return to Canada as soon as possible, as requested by the Government of Canada, policy extensions will be treated on a case-by-case basis.

To purchase an extension to your policy call 1-844
-500-2947 to speak to an agent. Our office is open Monday to Friday 9:00 to 5:00 PM (ET) to serve you.

⚠️If you are planning to travel soon ...

The Government of Canada is asking Canadians to avoid all non-essential travel outside of the country. For this reason, we have temporarily stopped selling new policies.

If you have a policy that provides an annual plan and are planning to travel during the travel advisory, there will be no coverage if you get the coronavirus (COVID-19).
